About Me
Welcome to my website!
I began my career in grade school shuttling back and forth to NYC on commercial auditions. At the same time, I was involved with a children's performing group that toured Long Island. It wasn't until graduating from high school that I became serious about performing. After a brief stint at Quinnipiac College in CT., on a soccer scholarship, I was accepted to the Joffrey School of Ballet in Greenwich Village and my love affair with the arts was solidified. I was then accepted to the Indiana University School of Music, in Bloomington Indiana, on a ballet scholarship. The rest as they say is "on my resume."
I'm told that from those early days my longevity and success onstage, has come from combining technical skill, fierce passion, natural instincts and honesty into my work.
As one of Broadway's most fortunate performers over the last twenty years, I have had the privilege of working side by side with award winning directors and choreographers. Through these dynamic collaborations I feel I have grown and benefited as both a performer and artist.
Borrowing from what I have witnessed and experienced and melding it with my own intrinsic abilities, I feel I have created my own positive and supportive technique and style as a director/choreographer.
I strive to be an actor's director. I believe in and value the actors contributions. It is essential to foster an active collaborative process. My goal is to both protect and challenge the actor and provide an environment where failure is not an option. I revel in helping talented people do what they do well, better. I am drawn to the truthfulness of honest emotion and the reality of character. I am profoundly interested in and committed to delivering the heart of the work as it was intended.
I believe in the art of storytelling. Through storytelling, it is possible to reach into someone's heart and mind and touch them in a way that mere words alone cannot. I look forward to creating meaningful relationships with writers and producers of new works, and to enable and shepherd those works from initial reading through first class productions. I also have a great respect for classic musical theater gems and enjoy finding new and interesting facets to exploit and investigate when tapped to Direct them.
I look forward to collaborating with you. Thank you for your interest in my work.
